Malgudi Days is a collection of thirty-two short stories written by R.K. Narayan. It is originally published in 1943 by Indian Thought Publications and later published in 1982. The stories in Malgudi Days set against the backdrop of nineteenth century India. They depict the middle-class society in a comic ironic mode. The master story-teller creates a mythical city in South India so that he has the liberty to meddle with its geography.
